DUI kNOw Timer Available on Android Platform to Help Prevent Drunk Driving
Lone Wolfe Mobile recently announced the new release of their DUI kNOw Timer. It is an Android app for smartphones that encourages possible impaired drunk drivers to take a 30-second test to see if they are too impaired to operate a vehicle.
An article posted in the News Junky Journal says the test is similar to that of a law enforcement field sobriety test involving the one-leg stance. The DUI kNOw Timer asks the driver to estimate 30 seconds passing by counting out loud. The user must guess the time inside a range of four seconds to get a passing mark. In 2009, drivers arrested for drinking and driving or being under the influence of narcotics exceeded 1.4 million, and about 18 percent of all automobile deaths that year were due to alcohol.
The new device from Lone Wolfe Mobile is an easy, free and quick way to find out if you should be driving. It is available for free download on the Android Market. The creator, Lewis Wolfe, says he wanted to come up with an app that all Android users could access, particularly if they may be impaired, because most don't realize how important their counting is on a DUI test. Wolfe also wanted his application to look nice and appealing for gatherings where alcoholic beverages are served. He hopes the more it is used, the less there will be drunk drivers on the road endangering others.
Since the Android application is free, Wolfe believes it's a win-win for everyone, including the person who is drinking and the innocent driver on the road. It's a safeguard for society.
