Man Charged with Forging Prescription for Narcotics
Governments at all levels are implementing new processes in order to monitor prescriptions that are filled and attempted prescriptions to ensure only those with a legitimate ailment and script written by a licensed physician can receive medication.
The act of forging a prescription can get a person convicted in court. A recent report shows that a dental assistant student was arrested on December 21 for just such an action.
Robert Frega of Waldwick, was arrested in December for allegedly attempting to fill a forged prescription for a narcotic painkiller. Waldwick was attempting to fill a prescription for Perdocan pain tablets at a Walgreen’s Pharmacy. He was using a stolen prescription blank to try and secure the medication.
The pharmacy manager was able to confirm with the dentist owning the prescription blank that she did not in fact write the prescription. The manager then reported the incident to police.
Waldwick had been assigned to the office of a Riversale dentist as part of his required school curriculum. While working in this office, Waldwick allegedly took a blank prescription pad and wrote himself a script for Perdocan to treat lingering foot pain from a prior injury.
As a result of his crime, Frega was charged with illegally completing a New Jersey prescription blank for narcotics, presenting a forged official document and attempting to commit the crime of obtaining a controlled and dangerous substance through fraudulent actions.
